DESCRIPTION:Through their creative work\, three writers will share their experience\, knowledge & hope for our relationship with the Land. \nStories\, prose\, poetry\, and music to match! \nA free\, bilingual event. Donations welcome. \nJoin us on the un-ceded territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka in Montreal\, originally named Tiohtiá:ke. \nThe Voices: \nRae Marie Taylor\, Spoken Word poet\, and visual artist\, is the author of the non-fiction work\, The Land: Our Gift and Wild Hope\, concerned with her New Mexico/Colorado homeland. Rae will read in English and French. \nVeena Gokhale\, an Indo-Canadian writer will read in English from her novel\, Land for Fatimah\, set in Kamorga\, an imaginary East African country. \nLaure Morali\, poet\, writer\, and cinematographer\, will read in French. Born in Bretagne\, France\, Laure is also québéçoise and a close friend of the Innu. She has become an important presence for French-speaking First Nations Literature. \nBrian Campbell\, co-organiser of The Lawn Chair Soirée\, poet\, and singer-songwriter\, will provide a musical note.
