SUMMARY:Poetry is a Relationship - Workshop with Shannon Webb Campbell
DESCRIPTION:POETRY IS A RELATIONSHIP \nQuebec Writers Federation \nAtwater Library Montreal\, QC \nSunday\, November 3\, 2019\, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. \n  \n  \nThis workshop is for poets of any level of experience who are seeking to expand the range of their subject matter. Maximum 12 participants.  \n  \nEcology  \nthe branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings. \n  \nBeing \nexistence \nthe nature or essence of a person \nPoetry is a relationship –a branch of ecology where words\, bodies\, minds and hearts relate to one another\, and as a result\, part of the poetic process is being. Poets relate to poetry as a plane of existence. Poets need poetry\, and poetry requires poets. Over the course of a three-hour workshop we will open ourselves up to a liminal state\, and occupy a position\, at or in\, both sides of a boundary. We will take some time to attune ourselves\, tap into our inner voice\, and play in creative realms. \nThe aim of this workshop is to realign with our poetic intentions\, toy with possibilities\, and generate new material\, while rejuvenating and nourishing our inner poets. This workshop will consist of in-class writing exercises\, some close reading\, and time for participating poets to receive feedback from their peers and the workshop leader. \nThe workshop will be a safe and friendly space\, with a focus on the multitudes of creativity and potential of new ideas. \nBio \nShannon Webb-Campbell is a mixed Indigenous (Mi’kmaq) settler poet\, writer\, and critic. Her books include: Still No Word (Breakwater 2015)\, the recipient of Eagle Canada’s Out in Print Award\, and I Am A Body of Land (Book*hug 2019). Shannon holds a MFA in Creative Writing from University of British Columbia\, and a MA in English Literature at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador\, and is a doctoral student at the University of New Brunswick in the Department of English. She is the editor of Visual Arts News Magazine. \n
