SUMMARY:Spring Cleaning: Workshopping Session
DESCRIPTION:Join us on April 8th as we workshop\, edit\, and clean up our work\, just in time for spring!! This will be a relaxed space to share your work and ask for constructive feedback (or just share whatever you’ve been working on!)\n________________________________________\n\nACCESSIBILITY:\n• This is not a place for racism / sexism / ableism / homophobia / transphobia. //\n• Each guest’s microphone and camera will be turned off unless they turn it on themselves. As hosts\, we also have the ability to mute someone or remove them from the event if they exhibit inappropriate or hateful behaviour. //\nWe’ve updated our community guidelines for online events\, you can access them here: https://drive.google.com/…/1ZyznlHIHiD2gBZSngh4keXn6f5…/\n________________________________________\n\nLAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:\nMcsway Poetry Collective wants to acknowledge that the land we meet on is the unceded territory of the Kanien’kehà:ka\, also known as the Keepers of the Eastern Door. These lands and waters on which we meet have long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst nations. We have a responsibility as people who enjoy this land to acknowledge that it was taken from the Kanien’kehà:ka by colonial settlers\, and that colonialism continues to exist in Canada today through the government taking natural resources from unceded indigenous territory. One of Mcsway’s priorities is to create a safe space where indigenous writers are welcome to share their work. We challenge everyone to take a second to think about the last poem they read by an indigenous writer. If you can’t think of one\, we challenge you to find work by an indigenous writer to read\, preferably by buying the book to support their craft. It’s up to us to resist colonialism in any form it may take.
