SUMMARY:Bodies in Lyric – Tanya Evanson on Spoken Word @ 4th SPACE
DESCRIPTION:Oral poetry\, storytelling\, monologue\, slam and experimental sound performance remain at the fringes of the literary world–largely because they lack a critical framework. \nThis talk by Tanya Evanson will examine some current states in spoken word and look at the work of three Tiohtià:ke/Montreal-based artists: Kaie Kellough\, Moe Clark and Cat Kidd. We round it all out with a live performance featuring Tanya Evanson on vocals\, Jahsun on percussion and Jean-Michel Frédéric on keys. A co-presentation of the Atwater Writers Exhibition\, SpokenWeb\, and the Atwater Poetry Project. \nThis event is a sister to The Page with Ears Open — a Spoken Word Workshop on Saturday\, Feb. 1.
