DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, August 6th\, 2024\, 6:00 pm\n\n\n\nFrench translation follows \n\n\n\nThis event is part of a project that seeks to gather writers\, poets and storytellers to come together and share stories. As the world seems to move toward polarization\, and deadly wars currently waged keeps many awake\, we need stories more than ever to build resilience and solidarity. In the words of Donna Morris stories… “ allows us to see as others see us. It allows us to play up our goodness and cast light on our darkness.” \n\n\n\nThe power of sharing stories as a catalyst for bridging national\, cultural and identity gaps inspired by the cultural heritage of the indigenous people of Canada has been the main pillar of this initiative. \n\n\n\nAs a founder and member of the Benny Library Writers’ Collective\, the first story reading event will be launched at the Benny Library focusing on body image as one of the main themes. \n\n\n\nThe stories and poems will be in English and French\, although the contributors will be international and include stories from Iran\, China and possibly Britain. We hope Dr. Cathrine Richardson will open the session in the manner of the indigenous people of Canada. \n\n\n\nSome of the stories will be published on my website and with Persian translation. \n\n\n\nRoksana Bahramitash\, Ph.D. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPartager des histoires nous rassembleDes histoires inexpliquées nous séparent \n\n\n\nCet événement fait partie d’un projet qui vise à rassembler des écrivains\, des poètes et des contes d’histoires pour se réunir et partager des histoires. Alors que le monde semble se diriger vers la polarisation\, et que les guerres meurtrières menées actuellement laissent beaucoup de gens éveillés\, nous avons plus que jamais besoin d’histoires pour construire la résilience et la solidarité. Dans les paroles des histoires de Donna Morris… « nous permet de voir comme les autres nous voient. Elle nous permet de jouer notre bonté et de jeter de la lumière sur nos ténèbres. » \n\n\n\nLe pouvoir du partage des histoires comme catalyseur pour combler les lacunes nationales\, culturelles et d’identité inspirées par le patrimoine culturel des peuples autochtones du Canada a été le principal pilier de cette initiative. \n\n\n\nEn tant que fondateur et membre du Collectif des écrivains de la Bibliothèque Benny\, le premier événement de lecture d’histoires sera lancé à la Bibliotheque de Benny en mettant l’accent sur l’image corporelle comme l’un des thèmes principaux. \n\n\n\nLes contes et poèmes seront en anglais et en français\, bien que les contributeurs soient internationaux et incluent des histoires de l’Iran\, de la Chine et éventuellement de la Grande-Bretagne. DESCRIPTION:Now in its 8th edition\, the Bishop’s Forum offers a 5-day experience as an introduction to civic engagement along with leadership and networking opportunities for English-speakers aged 18-26.  Participants from across the province will meet speakers from various domains and will engage in workshops which address topics such as mental health\, public administration\, and financial literacy.\nThe Bishop’s Forum is funded by the Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québecois d’expression anglaise covering costs for participants including travel to and from the forum as well as room and board. \nRegistration is online and ends on June 30th\, 2024.
