What can you do to increase your chances of getting published in their pages? Join Jessica Johns (Managing Editor\, Room) and Greg Santos (Editor in Chief\, carte blanche) for insider tips on lit mag submissions\, selection processes\, publication steps\, and more. Plus\, this session will include a quickfire First Page Challenge — a behind-the-scenes look at submission selection as Jessica and Greg offer on-the-spot feedback based on the first pages of anonymous submissions. Hosted by writer and translator Sally Ito\, this webinar runs 60 minutes and includes a Q&A period. \nClick here to submit the first page of your fiction\, nonfiction\, or poetry submission. She is the Managing Editor for Room magazine and a co-organizer of the Indigenous Brilliance reading series. Her debut poetry chapbook How Not to Spill co-won the 2019 BP Nichol Chapbook Award and her short story\, “Bad Cree\,” won the 2020 Writers’ Trust Journey Prize. Her novel BAD CREE will be released in January 2023 with HarperCollins. \nGreg Santos is a poet\, editor\, and educator. He is the author of Blackbirds (2018)\, Rabbit Punch! (2014)\, and The Emperor’s Sofa (2019). His newest poetry book is Ghost Face (2020). He holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from The New School. He regularly works with at-risk communities and teaches at the Thomas More Institute. He is the Editor in Chief of the Quebec Writers’ Federation’s online magazine\, carte blanche.
