Call for Applications from Emerging and Established Writers and Dramaturgs
Deadline: Wednesday, October 30, 2024
The 2025 QWF Mentorship Program is now accepting applications from prospective mentees and mentors.
The mentorships are designed to help promising emerging writers make the transition to the next stage of their careers. Over a period of four months, mentors are expected to devote 35 to 40 hours to reading and responding to their mentee’s work and to giving guidance towards the goal of publication or production. Mentees are expected to commit a minimum of 15 to 20 hours per month to the program.
Remuneration for mentors is $2000. The only cost to mentees is a $30 non-refundable application fee ($40 if submitting by mail instead of online).
These mentorships are intended for emerging writers who do not have other resources at hand for professional mentorship. As such, priority will be given to those not currently enrolled in a writing program. Authors working with a professional editor or publisher, or those who have already had a QWF mentorship, are ineligible.
The 2025 Mentorship Program comprises three types of mentorships:
- The QWF Writing Mentorships
- The Mairuth Sarsfield Mentorship for Underrepresented Writers (2025 Program: Spoken Word)
- Le Mentorat Jean Antonin Billard ATTLC/QWF en traduction littéraire (anglais-français, date limite : 11 novembre 2024)
The Mairuth Sarsfield Mentorship for Underrepresented Writers:
2025 Program—Spoken Word
If you are a writer or spoken word artist who is Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Colour, you may also be eligible for the Mairuth Sarsfield Mentorship, a component of QWF’s Fresh Pages Diversity Initiative. The 2025 mentorship will be in spoken word, and the mentor will be poet and spoken word artist Kama La Mackerel. The mentorship is open to applications from prospective mentees until October 30, 2024.
