Make a donation

Like most arts organizations, QWF really has to scramble to support its ongoing programs and launch innovative activities. That’s why donations are so important to us! It’s tough to make a case for supporting a cultural organization when we know that your donation dollars could go towards cancer research, housing for international refugees, or clean water for African villages. We don’t ask you to place us above the other causes you care about, but we’d like you to think about the role QWF plays in your life and consider allocating a corresponding percentage of your annual charitable giving to us.

Now that I have more years behind me than ahead of me, I have begun, reluctantly, to imagine the unimaginable: not being here. And I’ve decided that the best gesture, in lieu of sending flowers, would be for people to make a donation to the QWF, an organization that I have appreciated and benefitted from in my lifetime.

Ways to give

Make a one-time or recurring donation right now

Maybe you’ve just completed a lucrative contract, gotten a hefty tax refund, or are just feeling appreciative. In less than a minute, you can make a tax-deductible gift and direct it to QWF’s general activities or to carte blanche, Words and Music, or Writers in the Community. And if you’d like to give $100 but don’t have the cash on hand, you can even specify a monthly $10 donation for 10 months!

Contribute to the annual Pyramid Campaign

Our Pyramid Campaign to support the Writers in the Community program, from mid- January to mid-April each year, is a great opportunity to give a special donation and be part of a community-wide demonstration of values. Of course, if you miss the campaign period, we will gratefully accept your gift to the WIC program at any time of year.

Sponsor a literary prize

If you’re able to make a major commitment, you may want to sponsor one of the QWF Awards. For a multi-year commitment of $5,000 per year, you could be the new sponsor of the A.M. Klein Prize for Poetry as soon as this year! If you’ve set your mind on one of the other prizes, please let us know, and we’ll tell you the next time we’re looking for a sponsor.

Please contact Lori Schubert, Executive Director of QWF for more information.

Leave a legacy

Encouragement and contribution are essential for the enduring legacy of the Quebec Writers’ Federation. In that spirit, I have left a bequest in my Last Will and Testament that was meaningful to me and, I hope, an acknowledgment of the welcoming spirit and
vigor of the QWF.

Sheila Kindellan-Sheehan, author

If QWF has been important in your life, we’d like you to consider setting up a charitable gift now for some time in the future. A gift that you can’t afford now may be feasible after you’ve died. Leaving a legacy is a generous and meaningful way for you to ensure that the organization that has enriched your life has the means to continue to do good in the community. You, and your contribution, will be deeply appreciated and, if you allow it, publicly acknowledged. And the process can be surprisingly simple. What’s more, depending on your situation, it may significantly lower the taxes your estate has to pay.
