*Event Postponed to: Thursday, July 3, 2025, 6:30-8:30 pm*

You are invited to the launch of Annapurna’s Bounty, Indian Food Legends Retold by Veena Gokhale on Thursday, July 3, 6.30-8.30 pm, at La Livrerie, a lovely, library-cafe located at 1376, Rue Ontario Est, Montréal. A 10-minute walk from Metro Beaudry on the greenline. Bike and car parking available.
I truly look forward to reading from my book of short stories. Discussion, celebration, hanging out — what’s right with this picture?! Samosas and munchies provided. Plus the place serves a variety of drinks.

Annapurna’s Bounty recasts Indian food legends for the 21st century palate and contains a generous dollop of magic realism. Here, food manifests as ploy, bargain, symbolic communication, a bone of contention, a lesson, as it weaves through the lives of kings and commoners, witches and goddesses, gurus and bandits, refugees and travellers. And who is Annapurna? She’s the Indian goddess of nourishment.

Each story is followed by a vegetarian recipe offered up by a character. This is pluralistic, multi-dimensional, foodie fiction — a banquet for the mind and the body.
