Two pairs of lit­er­ary trans­la­tors head into a book­ish bat­tle of words, against each oth­er and against an AI trans­la­tion tool. How does each trans­la­tion choice bend mean­ing and tone to cre­ate the final effect? Can AI cap­ture the nuance nec­es­sary in lit­er­ary trans­la­tion or in any trans­la­tion? Hear the texts morph from one lan­guage to the next, as the trans­la­tors delve into the sub­tleties of trans­lat­ing fic­tion. Fol­lowed by a Q&A with the audi­ence.
