Join the Calgary Distinguished Writers Program in welcoming J. R. Carpenter, the University of Alberta’s 2020-21 Writer-in-Residence, for a virtual reading and talk hosted by creative writing professor Dr. Larissa Lai.

J. R. will read from her recent collections An Ocean of Static and This is a picture of Wind, and speak candidly with Larissa about working with found texts and archives; the cross overs between writing and data; and the ways in which the practice of measuring weather has supported colonialist expansion throughout history.

Followed by a Q&A.
