On Wednesday, November 1st at 12pm in MB9C (1600 Rue de Maisonneuve Ouest), Kathryn Mockler will join us to read from and discuss her newest collection, Anecdotes (2023). Kathryn Mocker is the author of five books of poetry. She co-edited the print anthology Watch Your Head: Writers and Artists Respond to the Climate Crisis (2020) and is the publisher of the Watch Your Head website. She runs Send My Love to Anyone, a literary newsletter, and is an assistant professor at the University of Victoria. Anecdotes is a hybrid collection written in four parts, now more relevant than ever, examining the pressing realities of sexual violence, abuse, and environmental collapse. Anecdotes has been described as “an instant ‘post hope’ classic” and a “collection of coming-of-age stories for late stage capitalism.” A question and answer period will then follow the reading.
Writers Read is part of Concordia University’s Creative Writing program and is supported by the Department of English and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Writers Read, directed by Professor Sina Queyras since 2011, invites renowned and emerging authors, both Canadian and international, to read from and discuss their work with students and local audiences. In addition to readings, the series includes Master Classes and professional developmental activities spanning the school year.
This event is free and open to all.
