Description
Use the links in the navigation menu to join QWF or to renew your Membership. The cost of Membership is $60 for a 12-month Membership, beginning when your payment is processed. If you are a full-time student, you can join as a Student Member, for just $25 for 12 months.
On payment, you will receive an email confirming your registration. Please note that this email also includes your QWF Membership Card. We strongly recommend that you print it out and keep it in your wallet so you can take advantage of the many benefits you are entitled to as a QWF member.

Pay-What-You-Can Policy
QWF acknowledges that many may not be in a position to pay their full membership dues. You may become a member or renew your membership by paying what you can, from $0 to the full $60 for general and professional memberships or $0 to the full $25 for student memberships. Learn more.
Membership Options
All members except Friends receive a QWF membership card, which entitles them to a range of benefits and discounts on our workshops, at independent bookstores, and elsewhere. Learn more about membership benefits and discounts.
Professional Member
$60 per year
A Professional Member must have traditionally published (not self-published) at least 40 pages of fiction, poetry or non-fiction (including journalism), or have professionally produced at least 30 minutes of radio, film, television, theatre or multi-media. Storytellers and spoken word artists must have presented at least one full-length solo show or have had at least three professionally paid bookings.
General Member
$60 per year
Are you an aspiring or emerging writer? Our General Membership is open to all levels of writers who do not meet the criteria for Professional membership. Whether you want to take your first writing workshop, you’re working on your first book, or you’ve always wanted to pursue writing as a career or hobby, we welcome you to join us.
Student Member
$25 per year
To qualify for a Student Membership, the applicant must be enrolled in full-time education (at any level) at the time of application. Student Members receive a 50%-discount on all QWF workshops.
To become a Student Member, please provide proof of full-time status, such as a scan or photograph of a student ID or a proof-of-enrolment letter.
Friend of QWF
$35 per year
Not a writer but interested in supporting QWF’s programs and activities? Become a Friend! Friends of QWF receive a quarterly newsletter featuring QWF members’ recent publications, as well as invitations to QWF events.
Note: Friends of QWF do not receive the same membership benefits and discounts as Professional, General, and Student Members.
