Congratulations to the three Finalists for the 2019 QWF Prize for Young Writers!

The Finalists

Curtis McRae with We Should Change the Curtains, published in Soliloquies Anthology. Age when published: 22.

François Provencher with Head of Heaven, published in Footprints. Age when published: 16.

Benjamin Wexler with As Bodies Fall, published in CBC Books. Age when published: 15

The respective Prizes will be announced at the 2019 QWF Awards Gala on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at the Lion d’Or.

The Prizes

  • Grand Prize: $1000 and, when rights allow, republication in carte blanche
  • Second Prize: $350
  • Third Prize: $150

All three prize winners receive a one-year membership with the Quebec Writers’ Federation.

The 2019 Jury

  • Shannon Webb-Campbell

This competition was open to residents of Quebec who were between 16 and 24 years old, inclusively at the time of submission. The Grand Prize will be awarded to the best submitted short story, poem, or work of non-fiction written in English and published in an official literary publication in 2018, as determined by the jury.
