Drumroll please! We’re delighted to introduce you to the new website for the Quebec Writers’ Federation. It’s taken many months of intense labour, working with the fantastic Sasha Endoh Code & Design, who designed and developed the site, with Melissa Jean Clark undertaking the eCommerce portal. We can’t recommend them highly enough.

With this new website, we believe that we’ve developed a tool that will better serve and reflect you, the vibrant community of English-language writers across Quebec: to make our services more accessible, and to tell more of your stories. We encourage you to have a look around the site at your leisure, but we wanted to highlight some of the bigger innovations.

For current members – go create your QWF User Account!

If you are a current QWF member, you already have a user account on the website! That means you can renew–and pay for–your membership, as well as sign up and pay for workshops and other QWF events directly on the site.

To get started, please head over to the “My Account” page (you can get there by clicking on the little head-and-shoulders icon at the very top right of every page. Then click on the “Lost your password?” link at the bottom of the login form to set a password for your account. We used the email with which you are receiving this message to set up your account, so you can continue to use that in place of a username on the website. Once you’re logged in, under “member details,’ you’ll be able to create a short profile and tell us a little more about you and your writing practice.

Signing up to become a member

For those who want to become new QWF members, or return after some time away – welcome (back). The process couldn’t be easier. Head to the Membership page and follow the instructions to create an account.

No cards in the mail

For all – this means no more membership cards in the post! You will receive an email with confirmation of your updated Membership, and your new QWF Membership Card. We strongly recommend that you print this out and keep it in your wallet, for all those great Membership discounts.

Registering for Workshops, Mentorship Reading, Shut Up & Write! and other events

You can now register and pay online for QWF workshops and other events, and register for our FREE semi-regular Shut Up & Write! sessions. Remember to sign in to your member account to receive your member discount for the workshops and other events that have a fee.

A publicly accessible events calendar!

This is new and very exciting. We’ve created a calendar for English-language/bi- and multi-lingual literary events, book launches, performances, slams, reading series, workshops etc. across Quebec! You can find it here. It will be filling up with literary events from May onwards. This means that the monthly Member e-newsletter will no longer list literary events.

For those who run regular literary event series, slams, open mics, book launches etc. – we’ll be running an information session at the end of May showing you how to upload your event to the Calendar (rather than sending them to Rachel). We’ll be in touch shortly with the details. If you’d like to attend this session, please contact Rachel.

News!

We really wanted a space to be able to keep you updated on goings-on and sector news about literature in Quebec, on QWF activities, on member news, and so on. Keep an eye on our regularly updated News Feed here – and if you’ve got something you think we should be featuring, send it in.

There is so much more to explore, so we hope you’ll enjoy the process of discovering how much QWF is doing. We also know that change can be difficult, so if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email either Lori or Rachel and ask! We’re here and ready to help.
