Licia Canton is an author, editor and translator. She has given readings and led bilingual workshops in Canada and abroad. Her works of fiction, nonfiction, creative nonfiction and poetry have been published internationally in English, French, Chinese, Italian and Venetian dialect. She has published thirteen books, including two short story collections (The Pink House and Other Stories (2018) and Almond Wine and Fertility (2008) and one translation. As the editor-in-chief of Accenti Magazine (accenti.ca), she organizes an annual writing contest. She mentors emerging writers of fiction and nonfiction.
Licia Canton is available to give talks on becoming a writer (editor or translator), healing through writing, living in translation and the creative process. She is always keen on reading from her published writing and answering students’ questions. She is also available to lead workshops, emphasizing that these are given in a safe space, where students are encouraged to explore meaningful or difficult themes in the genre that they prefer. Possible topics include how to get started, automatic writing, overcoming trauma and depression one word at a time. A former teacher of composition and literature, Licia Canton is a passionate speaker and a dedicated workshop leader.
