Cavlovic, Ann

Ann Cavlovic’s novel Count on Me will be released in April 2025 with Guernica Editions. Her fiction and creative nonfiction have appeared in Canadian literary magazines and news media such as Event, The Fiddlehead, Grain, The Globe and Mail, and PRISM international. She has received multiple prizes and fellowships for her work, including a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. Her writing often weaves in reflections on the climate crisis, the use of spin in personal and political discourse, and tensions between love and money.

Ann has a range of activities she’d be happy to offer and adjust to students’ and teachers’ needs:

  • a presentation on storytelling for non-writers, establishing it as an important tool of persuasion in any field, and drawing insights and practical tips from George Orwell and Yuval Noah Harari, among others
  • a workshop adapting common writing exercises to focus on students’ lived experiences within a safe and age-appropriate space
  • a reading from her published works and facilitation of an open discussion with students about craft, the writing process, etc.

Ann is bilingual, and lives in the Outaouais region of Western Quebec.  Elle serait à l’aise pour animer un atelier en anglais dans un cégep français ou anglais. www.anncavlovic.com.
