Crocker, Eva

Eva Crocker is a PhD candidate who has taught creative writing and English literature in university, high school, and community settings. She offers a workshop that covers how conflicting motivations create convincing characters, as well as how shifts in agency can help the reader get to know a character. Her interactive session includes a discussion about character development followed by a series of generative prompts that allow students to create their own complex characters.

Eva is the author of the short story collection Barrelling Forward and two novels: Back in the Land of the Living and All I Ask. Her work has been long-listed for the Giller Prize and won the BMO Winterset Award, the Alistair MacLeod Prize for Short Fiction, and the CAA Emerging Writer Award. Her work explores coming of age in the unique environments of Quebec and Newfoundland. www.evacrocker.com
