Raboy, Marc

I am a writer of creative nonfiction, emeritus professor of media studies at McGill, and former journalist in a variety of press, broadcast, mainstream, and alternative media. I am the author or editor of around twenty academic books, as well as two award-winning biographies aimed at a general readership (Marconi: The Man Who Networked the World and Looking for Alicia: The Unfinished Life of an Argentinian Rebel).

I am open to a range of classroom activities that draw on both my writing and previous teaching experience. Early in my career I taught print and broadcast journalism at Concordia and Laval universities. Most recently, in 2024, I offered a one-day workshop on Writing Biography under the auspices of the Quebec Writers Federation, that could be adapted for CEGEP students. I could also offer a more general workshop on investigative research methods, especially how to work with documents and conduct interviews.

I would be equally comfortable leading a hands-on workshop of six-to-twelve students, animating a focussed discussion with a class of 25-30, or participating in a roundtable with other authors. I would also be happy to present readings from my work.

Reviews of my books and additional cv information can be found on my website, www.marcraboy.org.
