Gina Roitman is an author and biographer whose work explores the search for identity and place. Her goal: to inspire students to search their roots. Her book of nine linked short stories follows a young immigrant girl in Montreal from childhood to maturity. In her documentary film, Gina chases down a story she thought her mother recounted to frighten her as a child. Employing a mixture of documentary film and fiction writing, she will examine how each life is a story and each story may be a key that unlocks the past and opens doors to the future.
