Category: Calls for Submissions, Job Postings, QWF News, Workshops

Deadline: Thursday, August 13, 2020

If you are an established writer, literary performer, or worker in the book industry with professional credentials, QWF invites you to submit a proposal to lead a workshop in 2021.

QWF workshops offer a wide range of subjects and we welcome new ideas. Recent subjects have included short story, novel, screenwriting, memoir, poetry, travel writing, spoken word, storytelling, and more; there have also been workshops on getting published, doing historical research, freelancing, making the transition to corporate writing, etc. Most sessions are open to all; occasionally we offer an introductory creative writing workshop or a master class requiring potential participants to submit writing samples. Most workshops have taken place in the QWF office, although sessions are also occasionally given outside Montreal. Depending on the public health situation in 2021, workshops will take place either in the QWF office, or online. Proposed workshops should be adaptable to an online format.

Typical workshop formats include 1-day Saturday workshops (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and 8-week evening workshops (either 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. or 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.). Proposals for other formats, such as 10-week advanced workshops or 3-hour workshops, are also welcome.

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, August 13, 2020.

QWF actively seeks to maximize diversity in its staff, part-time employees, membership, and board of directors. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals, and encourage Indigenous persons, persons of colour, LGBTQ+ and gender-nonconforming persons, persons with disabilities,
women, and members of any other marginalized group to self‐identify if they are comfortable doing so.
