The Quebec Writers’ Federation staff and Board, when acting on behalf of or representing the QWF, are committed to upholding the following values:
Open and respectful discourse
Freedom of expression is a fundamental human right and a central tenet of an author’s work and livelihood. QWF’s programs, activities, and events are created with the aim of establishing an environment where participants, including those with conflicting ideas, are given the opportunity to engage in thoughtful and respectful discourse.
In spaces that QWF manages, we do not tolerate any form of hate speech, intimidation, or discrimination on any grounds, including but not limited to age, colour, disability, gender identity or expression, national or ethnic origin, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation.
Transparent and professional conduct
The QWF staff and Board aim to work with integrity, openness, professionalism, and accountability in all interactions with the QWF membership, the public, and with one another. We strive to do the right thing, no matter how difficult; to be transparent; to take responsibility for our actions; and to learn from our mistakes.
Diverse and inclusive community
The QWF staff and Board are committed to creating and sustaining a strong literary community that reflects the diversity of our province and prioritizes compassion and respect among its membership. In our diversity, we are committed to common goals: supporting and enriching the lives of those writing in English in Quebec and championing their work throughout Quebec and beyond.
