Cancellation and Payment Policies for QWF Workshops

Payment Policy

Payment is due immediately, if paying online, or within one week of registration, if paying by cheque or cash. Otherwise, your spot in the workshop will be released.

Workshop Scholarships

Every workshop season, QWF offers four Fresh Pages scholarships, for aspiring writers who are Black, Indigenous, and people of colour, and four needs-based scholarships.  Each scholarship covers the full tuition of attending one workshop.

Payment in Installments

If you wish to register for a workshop but cannot pay the full amount upon registration, we can arrange payment installments via post-dated cheques. Please contact Riley Palanca, Membership Services Coordinator, at riley@qwf.org to discuss.

Cancellation Policy

To cancel your registration in a workshop, please email workshops@qwf.org.

If the consumer cancels this contract before the QWF workshop has begun, the consumer will be reimbursed in full.

If the consumer cancels this contract after QWF has begun the performance of their principal obligation (i.e., after the workshop session has started), the consumer must pay:

  1. The price of the services rendered, computed on the basis of the rate stipulated on the contract; and
  2. The less of the following two (2) sums: $50.00, or, a sum representing not more than 10% of the price of the services that were not rendered.

Example: You registered for a 10-week writing workshop. You decide to cancel your registration after attending 2 sessions. If the total cost of the course was $300, you must pay $60 for the 2 classes you attended. You will also be required to pay a $24 penalty, which corresponds to 10% of the cost of the remaining classes.

Within ten (10) days following the cancellation of the contract, QWF agrees to return to the consumer the sum of money that is owed to them.

lt is in the consumer’s interest to refer to sections 190 to 196 of the Consumer Protection Act (chapter P-40.1) and, if necessary, to contact the Office de la protection du consommateur.

Workshop Cancellation by QWF

In the event that a workshop is cancelled due to low registration, participants will be notified immediately and registration fees will be reimbursed in full.

Workshop Rescheduling by QWF

In the event that a workshop is postponed, participants will be notified immediately. Arrangements will be made to find a suitable time to fit most, if not all, current participants, and those who cannot or choose not to participate will be offered a full refund. Once a new date has been announced and you have agreed to participate, the cancellation policy pertaining to full and partial refunds will apply to the new start date.
