Calendar

Welcome to the QWF Calendar! This calendar—powered by the community—aims to be an inclusive listing of English-language literary events across Quebec, enabling you to see at a glance what’s happening near you in a given month. Changing to the “List” view provides a more colourful representation of what’s coming up. From book launches to open mics, literary festivals to poetry slams, reading series to workshops, we’re delighted to support, connect, and promote writers and literary communities across Quebec.

We list English-language, bilingual, and multilingual events. If you are looking for French-language poetry events across Quebec, we suggest that you check the calendar of La poésie partout.

A Crisis of Empathy? Shared Suffering in the Contemporary Moment

This event brings together two thought leaders who will explore how political polarization erodes our capacity for empathy. As public debates become more conflictual, how do we remain present to one another’s suffering, even when we fundamentally disagree? Rabbi Lisa Grushcow offers a spiritual perspective on empathy and suffering, while anthropologist Samuel Veissière examines the social forces driving deepening division. Together, they invite us to consider how we might listen, connect, and heal in fractured times.
