Description

This workshop is open to all levels of writers in all genres.

Fewer and fewer publications have rigorous editing processes in place, which means writers who know how to polish their work stand a better chance of being published.

This one-day workshop will teach participants how to see their own work with fresh eyes using tips, tricks, and hands-on exercises. Participants will get a chance to edit their own work and get feedback on their editing.

The workshop will cover:

  • The different types of editing including substantive editing, copyediting, fact checking, and proofreading
  • The difference between editing someone else’s work and editing your own work
  • How to see your own work with an editor’s eye
  • Editing for structure
  • Typical errors to look out for
  • How to “kill your darlings”
  • Ways to incorporate your inner editor (not your inner critic!) into your writing practice
