Hybrid Workshop*

This series of four workshops will examine how writers with projects for print, spoken word, or storytelling can prepare a strong literary arts grant application. From drafting a project description to balancing a budget, we will also discuss artistic risk, impact, and cultural appropriation. Focus will be on funding programs at the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, and an arts council program officer will join us to answer questions. This series is intended for Quebec-based writers at all stages of their practice: emerging, mid-career, and established. There will be tasks to complete between sessions and participants must have an original literary arts project in mind.

Access to MS Word or similar writing software will be necessary as well as a willingness to share work and exchange feedback in a workshop setting.

As soon as they have registered for the workshop, participants must email a short, one-sentence description of their intended literary arts project to riley@qwf.org with the subject line “For Tawhida Tanya Evanson.”

*This workshop will take place at the QWF Office (Room 3, 1200 Atwater Avenue, Westmount, Quebec) with up to 3 virtual spots for participants who are unable to attend in-person because of distance or disability. By default, all workshop registrations are for in-person spots. If you can’t attend in person and would like to request a virtual slot, contact Riley at riley@qwf.org and wait for confirmation before registering. Please do not register until after you receive confirmation that there is a virtual spot for you.
