From a solid foundation of facts, unleash your fancy…

This workshop offers a framework for writers of any level of experience to explore their own passions, interests, and experiences through the concise format of a picture book manuscript.

What fascinates you—and how can you write it to spark enthusiasm and imaginations among our children and youth?

Over the course of the day, we will

  • examine superb examples of creative non-fiction picture books, and
  • engage in guided writing exercises that will encourage you to define your own key messages, through topics such as current events, history, biography, travel/culture, science, math, art, music, movement, sports, family stories…

You’ll come away with inspiration, drafted ideas, and a plan to bring your creative non-fiction picture book manuscript to completion.

*This workshop will take place at the QWF Office (Room 3, 1200 Atwater Avenue, Westmount, Quebec) with up to 2 virtual spots for participants who are unable to attend in-person because of distance or disability. By default, all workshop registrations are for in-person spots. If you can’t attend in person and would like to request a virtual slot, contact Riley at riley@qwf.org and wait for confirmation before registering. Please do not register until after you receive confirmation that there is a virtual spot for you.
